Ayurvedic physician, lineage custodian and herbal-medicine manufacturer from Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka — known to the public as "The Dengue Doctor".
Dr. Tharanga Kumari Wickramasooriya is a registered Ayurvedic physician — Ayurvedic Medical Council of Sri Lanka, Ayu. Reg. No. 13772 — and the chief physician of Lankapura Weda Madura and the Lankapura Medical Center at Perumanagoda, Aluthwala, Ambalangoda. Her public identity has been tied to dengue-focused traditional treatment for well over a decade: a public referral from as early as 2013 already asked for "the lady doctor who found medicine for Dengue."
She is the present custodian of a healing lineage that, by her family's tradition, reaches back more than 700 years — her practice describes her as the last surviving practitioner of that line. The Weda Madura keeps a herbal garden of 38+ medicinal plants and works across 16+ treatment categories, from dengue support to arthritis, diabetes, haemorrhoids, kidney and liver conditions, infertility, I.T.P., nervous-system and lung conditions. The practice reports having cared for more than 100,000 patients.
In the enterprise arm of her work she founded Lankapura Osu (Pvt) Ltd, a manufacturer of herbal supplements and medicinal products; during the COVID-19 period her formulations included the EPIREPIES product line, the subject of a 2021 Lankadeepa press feature. As a health communicator she publishes the Swastha Charya education series on kidney, liver and dengue wellness through her YouTube channel and national media.
Her work has been recognised with the National Entrepreneur Excellence President's Award (Special Gold, 2023–24), a Gold at the National Business Excellence Awards 2024 for excellence in Ayurvedic products manufacturing, Pinnacle national honours (2022–2024), the Golden Inventors 2023 distinction for specialist Ayurvedic dengue medicine, and a Dame — Knight Commander honour.

Born into the Lankapura healing family of Aluthwala, Ambalangoda; trained in the traditional herbal formulations handed down through generations — a line her family traces back more than 700 years.

Her herbal treatment for dengue enters public record — a 2013 public referral already seeks "the lady doctor who found medicine for Dengue," and the moniker "The Dengue Doctor" takes hold.
